MISSION STATEMENT

The National Black Caucus of State Legislators seeks to develop policies that: encourage African American ownership and land acquisitions in rural regions; promote high quality research and education at the 1890 Land Grant universities, with an emphasis on agriculture, biotechnology, environmental technology and rural economic development; encourage young people to seek careers in the fields of agriculture, biotechnology, environmental technology, and rural economic development; halt abuses of eminent domain; and educates the African American community on the importance of rural communities, agriculture, nutrition, and energy conservation.

 

NBCSL Supports Black Farmers
NBCSL members have taken the lead in the fight for justice for black farmers. NBCSL has passed a number of resolutions in support of monetary compensation and other remedies for past discrimination by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
