Q: WHY SHOULD I ATTEND THE ANNUAL LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE?

A: There are several reasons to attend NBCSL’s 37th Annual Legislative Conference. The event gives you a chance to participate in educational sessions on a variety of issue areas; converse and network with leading policy makers, state and federal officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders; hear powerful speakers and dynamic thought leaders; and voice your concerns regarding leading issues in your community.

Q: HOW DO I REGISTER AND WHEN IS CUT-OFF DATE?

A: The Early Bird Deadline is September 16, 2013. The Advance Deadline is November 12, 2013. For more information, please refer to the “Registration Information” section of this brochure. Q: WHEN CAN I PICK UP MY REGISTRATION?

A: All registrations are available onsite Wednesday, December 11, 2013 between the hours of 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Registration will be located on Mezzanine level at The Peabody Hotel.

Q: HOW DO I MAKE HOTEL RESERVATIONS?

A: The deadline for making room reservations is November 11, 2013. Call The Peabody Hotel directly to make your reservations. Be certain to request the “National Black Caucus of State Legislators” room block. The hotel phone number is 1.800.PEABODY or (901) 529-4000. Q: WHEN IS THE HOTEL RESERVATION DEADLINE?

A: The reservation deadline is Monday, November 11, 2013.

Q: WHAT IS THE ROOM RATE?

A: The room rate is $145 single/ double occupancy plus tax and fee. The triple room occupancy is $165 plus tax and fee.

Q: HOW DO I SUBMIT LEGISLATORS NAMES FOR REMEMBRANCE?

A: Deceased legislators are honored each year at NBCSL’s Prayer Breakfast event during the conference. Please email the names of black state legislators who have passed in the year 2013 by Friday, October 25, 2013 to This email address is being protected from spambots. Q: WHAT IS STATE CAUCUS EVENING OUT?

A: The State Caucus Evening Out is scheduled for Wednesday, December 11th from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. It is an opportunity for state legislators to socialize and explore the great city of Memphis. Outings are to be planned and executed by each state delegation. NBCSL will not be planning any events during this time. Please notify NBCSL if your state will be hosting an event.
