From the Chair

LeasaFranklin Chair2016 2018Greetings:
Members of the African American Legislative Staff Coordinating Committee (AALSCC) would like to welcome you to our webpage.

My name is Leasa Franklin and I have had the pleasure of working together with staff of both the National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) and AALSCC for over nineteen (19) years in various capacities. I am honored and humbled to now serve as the Chair of AALSCC for 2016-18.

I follow a strong legacy of leaders who have led us in great strides over the years. With this solid foundation I feel confident that I can make a significant contribution to continue the upward mobility of our organization.

AALSCC has matured greatly over the last twenty (20+) years. Our mottos through those times have changed but they have all aimed to keep focus on our main goal and that is to use the best resource we have --- US--- to improve the community and economic advancement of our people, though knowledge.

KNOWLEDGE IS KEY

Under the guidance of NBCSL, AALSCC members are given the opportunity to gather a plethora of information through networking with other state staff members, attending seminars and intuitive training classes. Our conferences consist of panelists and guest speakers that are at the forefront of their prospective fields. Most importantly, we are fortunate to have unlimited support of our NBCSL legislative members from all states.

Going forward, AALSCC will take full advantage of today’s evolving technology; planning our sessions and tailoring workshops to address member’s personal and professional needs. This technology will continue to enable AALSCC to expand our reach to potential legislative and caucus staff members. It’s a great time to become an AALSCC member!
